Fanny About ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered golf caddy application. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our app at fannyabout.com or any associated services.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following data to provide the caddy service:

Voice transcripts: When you speak to Fanny, your speech is converted to text by your device's browser. The text transcript (not the audio) is sent to our server for processing.
GPS location: During an active round, we collect your location coordinates to calculate shot distances. Location tracking only occurs while the app is actively in use.
Shot and round data: Club selections, shot results, your self-reported feel/quality assessments, and round statistics.
Profile information: Your name, handicap estimate, club bag, coach name, and preferences you provide.
Device preferences: Voice/accent settings and activation preferences, stored locally on your device.

3. What We Don't Collect

We do not record or store your voice audio. Speech-to-text conversion happens on your device.
We do not track your location when you're not actively using the app.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We do not use your data to train AI models.

4. How We Use Your Data

To provide personalised caddy advice during your rounds
To track your shot patterns and club distances over time
To generate post-round summaries and coaching reports
To maintain your streaks, XP, and progression
To improve the service (aggregated, anonymised statistics only)

5. Third-Party Services

Your text transcripts are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate caddy responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. See anthropic.com/privacy.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your golf data is stored in a database on our servers. Voice/accent preferences are stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but no system is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

We retain your round and shot data for as long as your account is active, so you can track your improvement over time. You can request deletion of all your data at any time.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
Export your data in a portable format
Object to processing of your data
Withdraw consent at any time
